To protect the cells from the most severe environmental conditions, they are encapsulated between a tempered glass cover and an EVA pottant with a PVF back sheet. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly:

Unfortunatly we see many badly designed solar lighting systems in the field, that have failed because of poor basic system design, and the use of inferior system components, like cheap under specified batteries, low quality LED lighting, inferior solar controllers, and low quality solar arrays; put together by companies trying to make a quick dollar, without having the depth of knowledge and experience that is required to make these systems work reliably; all at the Customers' expense.

As an example we have a new council customer that approached us to fix some solar lighting systems that they were supplied, they comprised of 40+ solar powered Parthway lights, supplied by another company. These solar lighting systems all failed within the first year, and never originally worked as designed from day 1, due to poor basic system design, and the use of inferior system components, in fact the solar arrays were half the size of what should have been specified, the batteries were under specified by 50%, the lighting was not waterproof, was unreliable and used 30% more power than the original specification, along with other component and design problems. In this instance the manufacture of these systems offered no support to fix them, even after a written warranty. The customer, was so displeased with the outcome that they wanted to replace the whole lot with mains power at a cost higher than the original solar instalation.

Solar Powered Public Shelter LED Lighting Systems: Savepower solar powered stand alone LED lighting systems for bus shelters, public toilets, mining donga huts and outdoor solar bbq area lighting, and are easy to install, are reliable and very cost effective, they are a great lighting solution at site locations where mains power electricity is not available or is to expensive to implement.
